When I was a knee-high, my favorite book my dad read to me was Thidwick the Big-hearted Moose by Dr. Seuss. Poor Thidwick can’t turn down animals who want to nest in his antlers. Ages ps – 3 grades
Bob, could not get enough of the good Dr. Seuss. Loved all his books, even later when I was longer knee-high. Can even recite long passages from several of them. Used to howl with laughter while reading them first to my siblings kids and then later my own son.
I loved the Bunnicula books by James Howe. I remember that as being the first time I went to the library on a specific mission to find the next title. Bring on the next, and the next, and again.
Some of my favorites growing up were The Phantom Tollbooth by Norton Juster and The Chronicles of Master Li and Number Ten Ox by Barry Hugart. Such good memories hanging out as a family and listening the wonderful stories read aloud.
I loved both of those titles as well. Reading aloud is one of my favorite memories!
