Story Summary
Mr. Linden, one of the few black people living in Nova Scotia had travel widely in his youth as a merchant seaman. Now, in his advanced years, his travels are limited to the books in his library. When young Carol asks to borrow one of his books, he invites Carol and her mother to the house to choose one. Of all the books in the library, it is the one on the window seat, the one Mr. Linden is reading, that attracts her. But this is no ordinary book... no, not ordinary at all...
