Red Ridin' in the Hood

In Red Ridin' in the Hood and Other Cuentos, Patricia Marcantonio has taken eleven traditional fairy tales and retold them with a Latino flavor. Sound odd? Well, it works and works well. Roja heads to her abuelita's house but takes the short cut on Forest street where she meets Lobo Chavez (the wolf) driving a low-rider Chevy with a flame paint job. Ms Marcantonio saves enough to make the stories comfortably familiar and changes enough to breathe new life into them.
