The Green Children

First recorded in the 13th century, this is the story of two green children who appear near Yorkshire and can neither explain how they got there nor find their way home. Befriended by some, hated by others, the boy dies of longing while the girl lives a tenuous life in a world not her own. This is the longer and more intricate of two tellings by Mr. Crossley-Holland.
