Story Summary
Allardyce Ingoldsby lived at the base of Griffon Hill, where, it was rumored, Griffons lived in ancient and lost times and he made his living writing funny stories. But he longed to write a sad story, which he did and which began, "I weep for the for the death of the Griffons, those noble beasts of the world's morning", and through a strange turn of events his audience for the first reading ... was a Griffon who cried tears the color of moonbeams.
