A Brother's Promise

Annie and her older brother Geoffrey loved to climb to the top of the torch of the Statue of Liberty while only the arm and torch resided in Madison Square, but Annie feared that the rest of the statue would never arrive. After her brother's death in an accident, she sells his treasured spy glass and donates the money to the fund for building the pedestal. When others read her letter in the Times, it starts a landslide of contributions, finally allowing the United State to receive the rest of the statue. Historical fiction at its best!
