A Warning of Winter

In Warsaw, during the pogroms, an old Jewish widow gives young Stefan her husbands boots in exchange for Stefan's helpfulness. She tells Stefan that her husband was a man of honor and they should always be a reminder to Stefan to be the same. In the end they go to the grave with Stefan's little brother who died wearing them.
