Story Summary

A softly told story in the form of a reminiscence by a dying Mary Anning, about a day in her childhood when she went out the morning after a torrential storm hunting fossils. While breaking apart small ammonites, she heard a rumble behind her, and turned to see a massive rock slide coming straight for her. Luckily it stopped right at her feet and in the cliff just above, Mary discovered her first complete skeleton of a dinosaur. Because virtually all scientists at the time were men, it took many years for Many Anning to be recognized as "The Mother of Paleontology."
