Story Summary
Any modern young reader will be amazed at the hurdles that Elizabeth Blackwell had to overcome in order to become the first woman doctor. In her later years she opened the New York Infirmary for women and children which in turn became the training ground for the first nursing school in America. In 1868 she opened a medical college for women.
