Story Summary
After little Katie's Da died in the mines, she and her Mama sailed for Boston where they were indentured to Master Benton's family. Unfortunately Master Benton thought Katie too young and wanted to sell her indenture to another family. Pleading by Katie's Mama garnered Katie a trial period during which she proved her worth, allowing them to look forward to the promise that was America.
