Raymond's Run

This classic by African-American author Toni Cade Bambara has not tarnished one bit since its publication in 1972. Squeaky loves to run and is the fastest runner at school. But she has little time for friendship since she has to take care of, and sometimes defend her older brother Raymond who is "not right in the head." When the school race finally comes Squeaky discovers something that Raymond is good at - running - as he keeps pace with her along the outside of the school yard fence.
