Story Summary

In 1926, Antonia, a young black physics student, has come to see Bessie Coleman's air show in Jacksonville Fl. Unfortunately what she witnesses is the death of her heroine during an acrobatic stunt. A powerfully written story based on true events surrounding the death of Bessie Coleman, the first licensed black woman pilot and the first American, period, to earn an international pilot's license. A note of caution to parents and teachers, the word "nigger" is used throughout, historically appropriate to time and place.
