When Catherine Storr wrote the first Clever Polly and the Stupid Wolf story in 1950, she began a series so popular that the thread would continue throughout her career. Think The Roadrunner and Wile E. Coyote but with tenderness. Although the wolf continues to try and eat Polly up, he becomes her "dear silly Wolf". Out of 5 or 6 anthologies of these stories, there isn't a bad story in the lot.
