The Race

Irene doesn't see why she can't drive the wagon just because she is a girl. After a little pleading her daddy lets her drive supplies down to town but on the way home James Tilly drive up beside her in his wagon and taunts her into a race. Irene ends up in a cactus patch but no medicine feels as good as James Tilly apologizing and admitting that is was all his fault and that she drove as well as any man he knew.
