Story Summary
In a post-industrial world, after the Great Warming, where being an engineer is forbidden, Guthrie has only vague memories of his life before his accident two months earlier. But when he sneaks into a shed to find a flying machine, his hands find the controls strangely familiar. As memories flood back, he is soon air bound and headed home to the Forest of Ruins where engineers are not extinct and his father and mother await with open arms.
